Von Tramp Hash House Harriers
Code of Conduct

The Von Tramp Hash House Harriers is a non-traditional running club known for mixing physical activity with social antics. We welcome all levels of runners and walkers into a community built on fun, mischief, and irreverence. While hashing is famously offbeat, we take respect, safety, and inclusion seriously.

Whether you're a curious first-timer or a seasoned hasher, here’s what you can expect from us and what we expect from you.

Everyone’s Welcome

We don’t care how fast you are, what you look like, who you love, or what you believe in. If you show up ready to have a good time and respect your fellow hashers, you belong.

We Hash Hard. We Party Safe.

Hashing often involves alcohol, trails, city streets, and unpredictable shenanigans. We expect hashers to:

  • Know and manage their own limits

  • Look out for others

  • Never pressure anyone to drink or do anything they’re uncomfortable with

  • Have a plan to get home safely

Respect Is Required

Hashing can be goofy, lewd, and loud but never at the expense of someone else’s comfort or dignity. Racist, sexist, homophobic, or otherwise hateful behavior has no place at the hash. Period.

Consent Comes First

Touching, teasing, and joking may be a part of the hash culture, but only when it’s mutual. Consent to physical contact must be clear and enthusiastic. If someone tells you to stop, you stop. If you’re not sure, ask. This applies to everyone, every time.

Respect the Spaces We Venture In

We often run through public spaces, private areas, neighborhoods, and nature trails. We ask all hashers to:

  • Follow local laws and posted rules

  • Be courteous to muggles (non-hashers)

  • Don’t litter or damage property

  • Use common sense: if it seems like a bad idea, it probably is

Say Something If You See Something

If you’re uncomfortable or see something that doesn’t sit right, speak up. Talk to mismanagement or a trusted hasher. We're here to support each other and make the hash better for everyone.

In the end, it is important to remember our organization is managed and operated by half-mind volunteers. However, we all share responsibility for keeping it fun, safe, and inclusive. This Code is not about killing the vibe, it’s about making sure everyone can enjoy the vibe.

So hash hard, drink up, and be weird. Just don’t be a jerk.

On-On!
