Welcome!
Von Tramp Hash House Harriers (VTH3) is an adult-humored, non-competitive running group and kennel of the global Hash House Harriers. We run around northern Vermont on the first and third Saturdays of the month, all year long. Our trails can range from snowy trails to muddy backroads, from urban escapades to wooded romps, and involve singing, drinking and general merriment.
So if you enjoy the outdoors, running, and bad jokes, give it a try and join us for a trail.

FAQs

The general idea of hashing is thus: A trail is set by another Hasher called the Hare. The Hare marks the trail in flour or chalk, most likely colored flour in the winter months. The Hashers – called a Pack – try to find the continuation of the trail. There is an explanation of the marks used at the beginning of the trail. The length of our runs varies from too short to too long and the starting locations will change with each trail.
The trail ends with a ridiculous yet entertaining ceremony known as “The Circle” where we enjoy cold beer and some good laughs. A collection of hash cash, typically $6.9, will be collected before or after trail to go towards drinks and snacks.

You are free to move at any speed you like and our group contains runners, walkers and sometimes dogs. Just remember, it will be most likely be cold and snowy out there so stay warm and wear something waterproof on your feet.

These are our hash names. Every “hasher” has earned their hash name in some way. Ask a few people how they got their hash name and you’ll get the idea. A hash name is not something you choose for yourself, but is chosen for you by the other hashers after we get to know you.
